Reset link labels (any may appear): Reset Password | Forgot your password? | Forgot your password? Click here | To reset your password, click here | Send new temporary password
Before you start
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Correct URL | Use the link from your employer or training team, not a bookmark from a different company. |
| Username | May be email, employee ID, or auto-generated (example: lee_jordan_3_15). |
| Email on file | Self-service reset requires a valid email on your user profile (when email reset is enabled). |
| Wait time | Allow 15–30 minutes; check spam/junk before retrying. |
| One reset at a time | Multiple requests may invalidate earlier emails. |
Identify your login type
Look at your login screen and match one row:
| Login screen looks like… | Login type | Go to Scenario |
|---|---|---|
| Username + Password + optional reset link | Standard password | A or B |
| Sign in with Microsoft / Company account / SSO | Single sign-on | F |
| First name, Last name, birthday, company | Contractor portal | E |
| Separate Password reset page linked from login | Classic dedicated reset | D |
| Signed in with temp password → Change password screen | Forced password change | C |
Scenario A - Email with temporary password
Applies to: Most standard username/password sites
Steps:
- On the login page, click the reset / forgot password link.
- Enter your username (example:
jordan.lee@example.com). - Click Send Password Reset, Send new temporary password, or equivalent.
- Open the email (example subject: Password Notification).
- Note your login and new temporary password in the message.
- Return to the login page and sign in with those credentials.
- If prompted, complete Scenario C.
- Delete the email after successful sign-in.
Email usually includes:
- Web address (example:
https://training.icomproductions.ca) - Login (username)
-
New temporary password
Scenario B - Email with secure link
Applies to: Some enterprise learning portals that send a time-limited link.
Steps
- Request reset from the login page (same as Flow A, steps 1–3).
- Open the email and click the password reset link (often valid ~24 hours).
- On the Password Reset or Create Password page, enter and confirm a new password.
- Follow on-screen password rules.
- Sign in with your username and new password.
Scenario C - Forced password change after reset
Applies to: Any site with a “must change password on next login”.
Steps
- Sign in with the temporary password from email (Flow A).
- You are redirected to Change password / Password reset (may already be logged in).
- Enter new password and password hint (if shown).
- Submit, you should reach your home page, courses, or Guidebook.
If this screen appears every login, complete all fields and save; contact admin if it persists.
Scenario D - Classic dedicated reset page
Applies to: Sites that link to a separate reset page from classic login (not only an inline form).
Steps
- From the login page, click To reset your password click here (or use the URL your administrator provided).
- Read the instruction: Enter your username; you will receive an email with your new password.
- Enter username; choose language if offered.
- Click Send Password Reset.
- Confirm success message (example: Reset Password Emailed to: jordan.lee@example.com).
- Follow Scenario A from step 4.
Scenario E - Contractor portal / No self-service
Applies when:
- Login is contractor registration (name, birthday, company) without a forgot-password link.
- Login is username/password but no reset link is shown (org-specific configuration).
- Reset fails with username not found or no email on file after valid attempts.
Steps
- Do not create a second account unless instructed.
- Contact your training administrator, HR, or help desk (use the contact on the login page).
- Provide: full name, company, email on file, last successful login (approximate).
- Administrator can verify your account and reset access from FiLMS Admin (when permitted).
Scenario F - Single sign-on (SSO)
Applies when: Login shows Sign in with Microsoft, Azure AD, Okta, SAML, or your company portal — not a Breaze-only password.
Steps
- Do not use Breaze “forgot password” (it may be absent or ineffective for SSO users).
- Use your organization’s IT password reset (examples: Microsoft self-service password reset, internal IT portal).
- After resetting corporate credentials, return to Breaze and click Sign in with SSO.
Breaze does not store or reset your corporate password in this model.
Universal troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No reset link on login | SSO, contractor portal, or config | Identify login type; use Scenario E or F |
| “Username / login not found” | Typo, wrong site, inactive account | Verify URL and username; contact admin |
| No email after 30 min | Spam filter, wrong email on profile | Check junk; contact admin to verify email |
| “No email address associated” | Profile missing email | Admin must add email or reset manually |
| Temporary password rejected | Extra spaces, caps lock | Retype; request one new reset |
| Reset link expired | Link time limit (e.g. 24 h) | Request new reset |
| Must change password every time | Incomplete change step | Complete Scenario C fully |
| SSO password works but Breaze fails | Wrong account / not provisioned | IT + training admin check SSO mapping |
| Reset OK but no courses | Duplicate account | Admin identifies correct login |
